A grand total of 771 goals have been scored in the history of the FIFA Women’s World Cup™. In the countdown to the eighth staging of the competition, in France, we asked you the fans to choose the very best of the lot, and your verdict is in.
FIFA.com users’ greatest goal in Women’s World Cup history is Monica Ocampo’s long-range strike in Mexico’s opening match at Germany 2011, which came out on top in the vote held between 18 April and 6 May.
Thousands of votes came in from all over the planet, with Ocampo’s effort beating the goal Song Xiaoli scored for China PR in their first match of the 2007 tournament, one they hosted. Taking third place was Carli Lloyd’s unforgettable hit for USA from the halfway line in the Final at Canada 2015.
